Obituary for Ramona Lee Hampton (Delgado)
Ramona (Delgado) Hampton (Shaw) age 56, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Thursday, January 25, 2018 at The Laurels of Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Flint in 1962, to John and Eva Delgado. She attended Holy Rosary & Kearsley schools, graduating in 1981. Ramona worked at the Hyatt Regency for a short time, where her favorite memory was meeting BB King in the service elevator. In 1982 she married David S Hampton and gave birth to her son Clayton in 1985. She later spent many years with her life partner Collin "Corky" Shaw, moved to Harrison, and together they had 2 daughters, Regina and Rebecca. Ramona had a generous heart. When her children were young she was sometimes called "the kool-aid mom" as her small home seemed to be filled with lots of extra little kids. She was "Mama Mo" to many. Mona was often described as a "free-spirit". She is survived by Corky Shaw, Harrison, son Clayton (Courtney) Hampton, Ortonville, Regina (Correy) Pumfrey, Harrison and Rebecca (Davey) Cowell III, W VA, step-sons Patrick and Joshua Shaw, St. Johns, her father John Delgado, Mt Morris, sisters Anita Delgado, Cadillac, Mary Delgado, Davison, Katherine Casey, Mt Morris and brother Thomas (Stephanie) Delgado, Flint, 7 grandchildren, 6 step-grandkids, and nieces, nephews and great nephews. She also leaves many extended family members and special friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Eva Delgado, and her former husband David Hampton.
As per her wishes, she will be cremated, with a memorial service to follow in the Spring. Details will be announced at a later date.
